I'd missed this news tidbit when it first came out -- Windows 7, the thing that's supposed to help Microsoft repair their already badly-tarnished OS image will ship a "Starter Edition" that only allows you to run three apps at a time, blocks access to your local network, and caps your screen resolution.
"What kind of dolt would buy such a thing?" you ask... until you think about hardware manufacturers who are trying to force down the retail price of new systems during tough economic times. I would expect that the vast majority of retail PCs and laptops sold in big-box stores will have this edition of Windows preinstalled. I wouldn't want to be the tech support weenie that has to take the calls that come out of this one.
<keanu>Ubuntu... I'm going to learn... Ubuntu?</keanu>
